Tanaka Miho's Manga 'Asphalt ni Aka' Released in Two Volumes

Asphalt ni Aka (Asphalt Red), the newly completed series by Japanese mangaka Tanaka Miho, was released simultaneously in both upper and lower volumes in Japan on June 15. According to Natalie, this two-volume work tells the story of the son of a father living on the fringes of the yakuza world, who turns to accessory making to carve his own destiny.
Tanaka Miho is a writer previously known for popular series such as "Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo" (The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You). However, Asphalt ni Aka shows her turning to a more dramatic and personal note. The series explores a character caught between crime and family ties, striving to express himself through art. This thematic shift showcases the author's versatility.
Although yakuza-themed manga have a long history in Japan, Asphalt ni Aka's focus on accessory making brings a fresh breath to the genre. The protagonist's father being a "borderline" yakuza adds tension and emotional depth to the story, while accessory production stands out as both an escape and a symbol of rebirth. Early reactions indicate that Tanaka's character-driven narrative and detailed drawings have received praise.
The series being published in two volumes allows the story to be read from beginning to end as a cohesive whole. For readers, this means the opportunity to experience an entire narrative at once. Asphalt ni Aka appeals to fans of both the yakuza genre and personal transformation stories. It is not yet known whether an official translation will be made in Turkey in the coming days, but the original Japanese is already available on digital platforms.
