The Bugle Call: Song of War Manga's Anime Adaptation to Air in 2027

A bugle call rises in the midst of war – and that sound will reach screens in 2027. Ryo Hoshino's popular fantasy war manga The Bugle Call: Song of War has officially announced it will receive a TV anime adaptation. While the anime is planned to air in 2027, the series will be helmed by experienced director Shinya Watada, who has worked on projects such as Gundam Build Fighters Try and Kamen Rider Outsiders.
Production will be handled by CA Soa, the newly established anime studio of Japanese digital advertising giant CyberAgent. This marks both the studio's first production and the first anime adaptation for the manga. Besides Watada's direction, other key staff members such as the scriptwriter and character designer have not yet been announced. Fans are eagerly anticipating how Watada will bring his experience in action scenes to this epic war story.
The Bugle Call: Song of War is a manga launched by Ryo Hoshino in 2019 in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine. The story revolves around an ancient war between magical creatures and humanity; the fate of a young bugler becomes a call that will change the destiny of the entire world. The manga currently spans 15 volumes and has sold over 1 million copies in Japan. Hoshino's detailed artwork and emotional depth quickly turned the series into a cult favorite among fantasy fans.
This announcement stands out among the increasing number of fantasy war-themed anime adaptations in recent years. Following in the footsteps of works like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga, The Bugle Call: Song of War explores themes of the brutality of war and friendship on an epic scale. Although some fans are concerned that studio CA Soa does not yet have a portfolio, the backing of CyberAgent and Watada's experience give hope that the project will be of high quality. More details (cast, first visual, broadcaster) are expected before 2027. Stay tuned for updates!
