Yen Press Licenses Planarian Humans, Zeta Gundam Define, and More

Major manga publisher Yen Press announced on July 3, 2026, that it has acquired the English licenses for six new manga and novels. This move aims to bring series from different genres to Western readers. The announced series include Planarian Humans, Takane-san and Arashi-chan, Zeta Gundam Define, The Chef of the Adventurers' Tavern, A Flower in Black Crude Clothes, and The 11th Cat Is Nene!.
This licensing news particularly excited mecha and Gundam fans. Zeta Gundam Define is known as a manga adaptation of the classic Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam series, and previously only a limited number of volumes had been released in Japan. Yen Press picking up this series is a long-awaited step for Western Gundam enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Planarian Humans is a work with sci-fi and psychological thriller elements; detailed information about its author has not yet been shared, but it has a small but loyal readership in Japan.
With this announcement, Yen Press once again demonstrated the importance it places on diversity. Takane-san and Arashi-chan offers a romantic comedy school story, while The Chef of the Adventurers' Tavern is a food-themed manga set in a fantasy world. A Flower in Black Crude Clothes stands out with its historical drama and emotional depth. The 11th Cat Is Nene! promises a lighter reading experience with a cute cat-themed daily life story. This diversity shows that Yen Press aims to appeal to a wide audience by investing in both mainstream and niche genres.
This licensing is proof of how fast Japanese manga is growing in the English publishing world. Especially new adaptations of mecha classics like Zeta Gundam Define aim to attract both old fans and new readers by combining nostalgia with modern artwork. Yen Press has not yet announced a clear release schedule for these series, but digital and print versions are generally expected to launch within 6–12 months following license announcements. Readers can follow updates through Yen Press's official channels in the coming months.
