Painter of the Night Live-Action Series is Coming: Airing at the End of May!

Painter of the Night, which has reached millions of readers worldwide and is considered one of the most iconic works of the BL (Boys' Love) genre, is stepping into the world of live-action. This long-awaited adaptation by fans will be released exclusively on the Lezhin Snack platform on May 28, 2026. Produced in a short-form series format, the production aims to bring the enchanting atmosphere of the original webtoon and the aesthetics of the Joseon era to the screen.
The series stars rising talents; Kim Kang-jae brings the stern and passionate nobleman Yoon Seung-ho to life, while Ji Min-seo takes on the role of the talented painter Baek Na-kyum. In the director's chair is Choi Bo-kyung, whom we know from the The Divorce Insurance project. According to information from the production team, filming has already been completed and the series is currently in the post-production stage. This innovative format, where each episode will last approximately 2 minutes, will offer a vertical experience suitable for mobile viewing habits.
The original story was created by Byeonduck in 2019 and held the title of the most-read BL manhwa for five consecutive years while being published on Lezhin Comics. Set during the Joseon Dynasty, the plot begins when the nobleman Yoon Seung-ho discovers Baek Na-kyum, a lower-class painter who draws erotic paintings under a pseudonym, and forces him to become his private painter. The series created a major cultural impact not only with its story but also with popular OST works such as "Night Flower" performed by Ahn Ye-eun.
The Lezhin Snack platform, where this adaptation will be released, is set to launch in early 2026 by Lezhi
