Tomb Raider King Animation Series Starts July 8: Opening Video and Details Released

Tomb Raider King (Dogulwang), one of the most beloved action and adventure series in the webtoon world, is preparing to make an ambitious entry into the animation world. Ahead of the grand premiere on July 8, 2026, the production team has shared the creditless opening video of the series to build excitement among fans. The series, which is a Korean production but will also be offered with a Japanese dubbing option, will be available to watch globally on Crunchyroll as well as on channels such as Fuji TV and Kansai TV.
The story of the series revolves around mysterious tombs that suddenly appeared all over the world in 2025, containing "Relics" with god-like powers. Our protagonist, Seo Joo-heon, is a tomb raider who is betrayed by his employer and left for dead. However, he miraculously travels back 15 years to the time when the tombs first appeared. Using his future knowledge and experience, Joo-heon embarks on a relentless struggle to take revenge on those who betrayed him and to become the true Tomb Raider King by seizing all the powerful relics.
The technical staff of the animation features notable names. The project, brought to life by STUDIO EEK, is directed and adapted for the screen by Seung Wook Woo, who previously worked on projects such as Hunter x Hunter. The character designs bear the signature of Hyun Joung Lee. On the musical side of the series, the popular K-pop group QWER appears with both the opening theme "SHOW DOWN" and the ending theme "To Be Continued". The Japanese dubbing cast includes star names such as Yoshimasa Hosoya (Seo Joo-heon), Saori Hayami (Irene Holton), and Junichi Suwabe (Kwon Tae-joon).
Originally a web novel written by SAN.G, Tomb Raider King was later adapted into a webtoon format in collaboration with Redice Studio (3B2S), known for Solo Leveling. Reaching over 200 million reads worldwide, the series stands out from its peers with its strategic battles and intelligent main character who possesses anti-hero traits. Aiming to carry its success in the manhwa world to the animation screen, the production is seen as one of the strongest alternatives this summer, especially for Solo Leveling fans.
Another exciting piece of news for fans is the announcement of the sequel manhwa titled Tomb Raider King: End Line, which will coincide with the release of the animation. With the first episode on July 8, the countdown continues to watch Seo Joo-heon's mastery over the relics and his challenge to mythological gods. With its action-packed scenes and high production quality, the series is a candidate to be one of the most talked-about productions of July.
