Oshi No Ko

Dr. Goro Amemiya lives a quiet life in the countryside, far removed from the glitz of Tokyo, until his absolute favorite idol, the rising star Ai Hoshino, appears at his clinic with a scandalous secret: she is pregnant with twins. Determined to help her deliver safely while keeping her career intact, Goro's life is cut short by a stalker on the eve of her delivery. But death is not the end; he opens his eyes to find himself reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, one of Ai's newborn children. Alongside his twin sister Ruby, who also possesses memories of a past life, Aqua begins a new existence basking in the unconditional love of his idol-turned-mother.

However, the bright facade of the idol world hides a terrifying darkness. When a tragedy shatters their idyllic life, the story shifts from a lighthearted reincarnation comedy to a gripping revenge mystery. Aqua, driven by a cold fury, dives headfirst into the entertainment industry—not to seek fame, but to hunt down the shadowy figure responsible for destroying his happiness. Meanwhile, Ruby, unaware of her brother's true motives, strives to follow in her mother's footsteps and become an idol herself, navigating a minefield of contracts, scandals, and exploitation.

Written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi No Ko is a searing critique of the Japanese entertainment industry. It masterfully blends supernatural elements with realistic drama, exploring themes of social media toxicity, the commodification of talent, and the lies celebrities tell to survive. As Aqua acts from the shadows and Ruby shines in the spotlight, the twins must confront the harsh reality that in the world of showbiz, the truth is the most dangerous script of all.
