The wagon slips without a care for the freezing cold. A person seems fixated on a newspaper. A woman seems preoccupied, yet, with a sleepy expression. She's fiddling with the buttons on a heavy coat. He looks at her red lips, as if moving along a wall of white cotton.

Calming noir

She locked the sound in

[Aleksander]: Hey!

[Aleksander]: What are you taking a picture of?

[Emma]: For the sound!

[Aleksander]: That's a strange reason...

[Emma]: Uhfufu...

[Emma]: I often hear noises that I don't expect.

[Emma]: For example, there...

[Emma]: Over there...

[Emma]: And over that way, too.

[Emma]: Or here...

[Emma]: When a noise piques my interest, I take a photograph of it.

[Aleksander]: Really?

[Emma]: I doubt just anyone could think to do something like that.

[Emma]: Fufu...

[Emma]: Well, it just so happens I'm not just anyone.

[Emma]: Ah...

[Aleksander]: Still, it's a little peculiar...

[Emma]: Something is happening here, when shoes and the ground touch...

[Emma]: ...It makes such a curious noise.

[Aleksander]: Oi!

[Aleksander]: Be careful...

[Aleksander]: Don't go too far!

[Emma]: Your boots make a very strong and imposing sound.

[Aleksander]: ...They also recommend you don't stray too far. It's danger- ous!

[Aleksander]: My boots are honoured to be admired, however...

[Emma]: I simply can't help it around here, you see...

[Emma]: ...This is where a particularly exciting sound hangs its hat.

[Emma]: Hm-hm~

[Aleksander]: Got to admit, I do think of myself as having a better voice than people on the radio or television.

[Emma]: But you're a little too chatty for that kind of thing, aren't you?

[Aleksander]: Hey, you're one to talk!

[Emma]: You want to take pictures of sound, too?

[Aleksander]: Hand me your camera.

[Aleksander]: You could say that, yes.

[Aleksander]: We'll see about that once we get the picture.

[Emma]: Wow!

[Emma]: What a delicious smell!

Chapter Analysis: Veil — Vol. 2 - Chapter 15

Chapter Analysis Veil — Vol. 2 - Chapter 15
Veil Vol. 2 - Chapter 15 opens with Emma revealing her unusual hobby of photographing sounds that catch her interest. As they walk together, she explains that when a noise piques her curiosity, from an unexpected direction or close by, she takes a photograph of it to lock it in. What makes Veil Vol. 2 - Chapter 15 so telling is how the conversation exposes their dynamic through small choices. Emma points out the curious noise where shoes and the ground touch, while Aleksander warns her not to go too far because it is dangerous. She teases that his boots make a very strong and imposing sound, and he responds with dry humor about being chatty. The back-and-forth stays playful rather than tense, with him staying close to keep her safe while indulging her peculiar habit. In the end, Veil Vol. 2 - Chapter 15 turns that playfulness into shared participation when Aleksander asks to try it himself and takes her camera. The moment ends with delight at the smell of bread and an offer to trade for it, grounding Emma's abstract interest in sound in an immediate, warm consequence.
