Aoashi Season 2 Release Date Announced: Returning to the Pitch with New Visuals and Theme Songs!

The long-awaited news for Aoashi, which soccer fans and anime enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating, has finally arrived. According to the announcement on the series' official website, the second season of Aoashi will begin airing in Japan on the NHK E-TV channel on October 4, 2026. The new season, which is expected to consist of 24 episodes in total, will continue from where the first season left off, focusing on our hero Ashito Aoi's rise to the A-team within Tokyo City Esperion and his fierce competition there.
A significant change in the production staff is noticeable with the new season. Production I.G, which produced the first season, is passing the torch to the TMS Entertainment studio this time. Kazuki Yokoyama will sit in the director's chair. In the latest poster shared for the series, which features a refreshed visual world, characters such as the A-team's key figures Nagisa Akutsu and Haruhisa Kuribayashi stand out alongside Ashito. It is also reported that the first footage from the series will be shared and a special announcement for fans will be made at the Anime Expo panel taking place on July 3.
On the music side, giant names from the anime world have joined the project. The opening theme for the second season will be performed by the rock band 10-FEET, who received great acclaim for their performance in the The First Slam Dunk film. The ending theme is entrusted to Ai Higuchi, who created unforgettable songs for Attack on Titan. The voice cast, including Koki Osuzu (Ashito), Shunsuke Takeuchi (Akutsu), and Yuichiro Umehara (Kuribayashi), will return to their roles to continue bringing their characters to life.
Written by Yugo Kobayashi and starting in Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2015, the Aoashi manga completed its journey by concluding with its 40th volume in June 2025. The series, which has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and won the "Best General Manga" award at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020, is considered not just a sports story, but also one of the productions that best handles tactical depth with its "thinking soccer" concept. The fact that the new season will cover the Premier League arc, where Ashito gets one step closer to the professional world, is pushing the excitement among the series' fans to its peak.
