Blue Lock Live-Action Film Announces Team V Cast: A Surprise Name as Nagi!

Exciting news continues to emerge from the live-action film adaptation of the Blue Lock series, which has taken the soccer world by storm. The production team announced the actors who will portray the "ace trio" of Team V, one of the series' most beloved groups, in an official video. K, a popular member of the global K-pop group &TEAM, will appear in the role of the genius soccer player Seishiro Nagi. He will be joined by Kōhei Higuchi as Reo Mikage and Keito Tsuna as Zantetsu Tsurugi. This announcement has nearly completed the film's cast, pushing anticipation among fans to its peak.
The production power behind the film is also quite impressive. The film, prepared by the CREDEUS studio—known for successful live-action adaptations like Kingdom and Golden Kamuy—is directed by Yusuke Taki. Prioritizing realism, the production team collaborated with the Japan Football Association (JFA) and the J.League for the filming. Former national soccer player Daisuke Matsui served as a consultant to ensure the players' movements on the field looked professional, and the cast underwent an intensive 1.5-year soccer camp before filming began. Director Taki states that the actors gained the discipline of real athletes during this process and will physically convey the "ego" clashes on the field.
Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, Blue Lock has turned into a phenomenon since its debut in 2018. Having sold over 50 million copies worldwide as of 2026, the manga brought a fresh breath to the sports genre with its philosophy of creating an "egoist" striker, contrary to traditional team play. The series, which won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2021, multiplied its popularity, especially with the momentum it gained during the 2022 World Cup period. Now, this massive universe is being brought to the big screen under the leadership of Yoichi Isagi, played by Fumiya Takahashi, and Jinpachi Ego, brought to life by Masataka Kubota.
The announcement of Team V shows how ambitious the "First Selection" arc, one of the most critical turning points in the story, will be. In particular, the complex friendship and on-field chemistry between Nagi and Reo are among the points fans are most curious about. The Blue Lock live-action film will be released in theaters in Japan on August 7, 2026. How the film will reflect that wild and competitive energy from the manga in a cinematic language is already a subject of curiosity. For followers of the series like us, this film will not only be a sports drama but also an opportunity to watch the purest form of dreams and ambition.
