BLUE LOCK Live-Action Film Begins Global Release: Dates for Serbia, Montenegro, Taiwan, and Sweden Announced
BLUE LOCK live-action film has begun to clarify its global release schedule. According to Anime Corner, release dates and exclusive posters have been shared for Serbia, Montenegro, Taiwan, and Sweden in the film's international distribution. These four countries will form the first wave of the production's worldwide release.
Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, BLUE LOCK is a sports manga published in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2018. The series, which won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in 2021, has sold over 40 million copies to date, becoming a phenomenon not only in Japan but worldwide. The anime adaptation produced by 8-Bit studio aired in the 2022-2023 season, with its second season released in 2024. That same year, an anime film titled BLUE LOCK: Episode Nagi was also released, strengthening the series' presence in theaters. Now, the story is presented to audiences in an entirely different format with a live-action film adaptation.
In recent years, productions such as One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Alice in Borderland have brought live-action adaptations of the manga/anime world to international platforms. BLUE LOCK's entry into this market could be met with great interest, especially in countries like Serbia and Montenegro, where football is strong. Considering that Taiwan and Sweden also have markets with intense interest in Japanese popular culture, this first wave shows how broad the film's distribution strategy is.
The release of official posters indicates that the film's marketing process is accelerating. Fans are now waiting for release dates in other countries to be announced; whether any announcement will be made for Turkey is a matter of curiosity.
