Countdown for Blue Lock Live-Action Film: Theme Song 'Monstruo' by Ado and New Trailer Released!

The Blue Lock series, which shook the football world, brings its egotistical battle on the green fields to the big screen this time with a live-action film. The producers shared the highly anticipated film's new trailer and main poster, while one of the project's biggest surprises is the theme song. Ado, one of Japan's biggest musical phenomena in recent years, will bring the egotists' ambition-filled world to life with her voice through the song "Monstruo" prepared for the film. Set to release in Japan on August 7, 2026, the film is already a candidate to be one of the most talked-about productions of the year.
The film's cast is at least as striking as its story. The lead role of Yoichi Isagi is played by young talent Fumiya Takahashi, accompanied by names such as Kaito Sakurai (Meguru Bachira), Kyohei Takahashi (Hyoma Chigiri), and Kota Nomura (Rensuke Kunigami). We will watch veteran actor Masataka Kubota in the role of Jinpachi Ego, the mysterious genius behind the Blue Lock project. The production, directed by Yusuke Taki, has a screenplay written by Tetsuo Kamata. Producer Shinzo Matsuhashi emphasized that the collaboration with Ado played a key role in reflecting the "true egoism" at the heart of the series and that a unique atmosphere awaits viewers.
The Blue Lock manga, written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, has achieved great success since its debut in 2018 with the dark and competitive perspective it brought to the sports genre. Having surpassed 50 million copies sold worldwide as of 2026, the series proved its mettle by winning the Kodansha Manga Award in 2021. With the global popularity of the anime adaptation that started in 2022 and the announcement of a third season, the live-action film is expected to carry this momentum to movie theaters. Notably, the actors being trained by professional football coaches has significantly raised expectations for the realism of the on-field action.
The film's theme song "Monstruo" means "monster" in Spanish and was composed by Giga and TeddyLoid, the duo with whom Ado previously worked on hits like "Odo" and "Show". The song's lyrics bear the signature of the legendary name ryo from the group supercell. Ado said in a statement about the song, "Monstruo perfectly matches the film's theme with its message of awakening the monster within and fighting to go further than anyone else." Fans have already begun counting down the days to see how the survival battle of 300 forwards will turn into a visual spectacle on the big screen.
