New Cast Members Announced for Blue Lock Live-Action Film: The "King" Baro Takes the Stage!

The soccer-themed survival series Blue Lock, which has become a global phenomenon, is preparing to hit the big screen, and its cast continues to take shape. According to the latest official announcement, the role of Shoei Baro, one of the series' most iconic and dominant characters, will be played by renowned actor Keisuke Higashi. The new promotional visual shared for the film, which is scheduled to be released in Japan on August 7, 2026, showcases the scale of the production by bringing together a massive cast of 20 people, including main characters such as Yoichi Isagi and Meguru Bachira.
Other notable names in the newly announced cast include Sosho Tomimoto as Ikki Niko, Keisuke Kida as Hibiki Okawa, and Ryota Miura, who will portray both Wanima twins (Junichi and Keisuke). The film is directed by Yusuke Taki, known for In Love and Deep Water, with the screenplay written by Tetsuo Kamata. The fact that the project is backed by CREDEUS, the studio behind successful live-action adaptations like Kingdom and Golden Kamuy, is increasing fans' confidence and expectations for the film.
Blue Lock was first created in 2018 by writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrator Yusuke Nomura. By breaking the "team spirit" theme of traditional sports manga and replacing it with "egoism" and individual talent, the series quickly became a modern classic. Having surpassed 50 million copies sold worldwide as of September 2025, the manga won the "Best Shonen Manga" award at the 45th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2021.
