Good News for Chiikawa Fans: 'Chiikawa Obake no Mori' (Ghost Forest) Opens in Odaiba

The beloved anime series Chiikawa's tiny characters – Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi – are transforming into ghosts this summer. This cute world created by Nagano will greet fans with a special event called 'Chiikawa Obake no Mori' (Ghost Forest) at Fuji TV's headquarters in Odaiba as part of the big summer entertainment festival 'Odaiba Fan Rising'.
Having become a huge cult phenomenon in Japan, Chiikawa originated from a comic series that Nagano began sharing on social media in 2020. The series, which debuted as an anime adaptation in 2021, quickly won the hearts of both children and adults. Events like 'Chiikawa Marche' held in previous years attracted great interest; this year's 'Obake no Mori' depicts the characters as adorable ghosts for the first time.
The event is part of the 'Odaiba Fan Rising ~楽しくアガる!真夏のエンタメ最前線~' (Odaiba Fan Rising ~Have Fun and Get Excited! The Frontline of Midsummer Entertainment~) festival, running from July 25 to August 23. The festival brings together many different anime, game, and entertainment events at and around the Fuji TV building in the Odaiba area. Chiikawa's ghost forest will be one of the most notable stops of the festival.
The event site will feature special decorations featuring ghost versions of Chiikawa and friends, photo spots, and a pop-up store selling limited-edition merchandise. Ticket prices and special menu details have not yet been announced, but festival participation is usually free or low-cost. As with Chiikawa events in previous years, products are expected to sell out quickly.
For Chiikawa fans, this event is an unmissable opportunity to see a different side of the characters and obtain unique souvenirs. No official announcement has been made yet regarding a new season of Chiikawa or another summer event after this event ends, but considering Nagano's social media posts and the series' popularity, possibilities include Obake no Mori becoming a permanent exhibition or moving to other cities.
