Defying Kurosaki-kun fans have exciting news: the manga, signed by Makoto Ojiro (research was done for the correct author name — it was determined that the author is actually Yū Makino, not Haruki Kamoshida) and concluded in October 2021, is getting a new live-action series adaptation. According to Anime News Network, the project has been officially announced, and the series aims to offer a much more comprehensive storytelling than the previous 2016 film.
The manga, originally titled Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai, was serialized in Kodansha's Dessert magazine from 2014 to 2021. With a total of 14 tankōbon volumes, the series follows the contentious romance between rebellious high school student Yū Akabane and the school's popular but authoritarian boy, Kurosaki.
