Devil May Cry Anime Concludes with Third and Final Season

Devil May Cry fans have both exciting and bittersweet news: The anime adaptation on Netflix has officially been renewed for a third and final season. The announcement came right after the second season premiered on May 12, 2026, confirming that the series will conclude as planned in three seasons.
According to Anime News Network, producer Adi Shankar (the person who previously brought Castlevania to life) and the team aim to wrap up the story in the third season. Although Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, the season is expected to meet the audience in the first half of 2027. Shankar had previously described the series as "conveying Dante's dark and action-packed story as faithfully as possible."
Based on the original Capcom game series, the production is animated by Studio Mir and features Johnny Yong Bosch (the voice of Nero in the games) as Dante. The first season aired in 2025 and generally received positive feedback from critics and viewers. The second season garnered praise for including iconic characters like Vergil and Trish.
The announcement that the series is the final season is not a surprise: Shankar had hinted in previous interviews that there was a three-season plan. Although this news means the end of the Devil May Cry universe on Netflix, there is talk that Capcom is working on new projects for the game series. Anime fans are eagerly looking forward to the final showdown between Dante and Vergil in the third season, and perhaps seeing the Devil Trigger moments from the games come to life.
The official trailer and release date announcement from Netflix and Adi Shankar will excite followers in the coming months. Do you think this trilogy will capture the spirit of the game series? We await your comments.
