Doraemon's New Movie Surpasses 4 Billion Yen at the Box Office: A Massive 44-Movie Nostalgia Video Released!

The legend of the blue robot cat Doraemon continues to take the big screen by storm. The latest installment in the series, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Chikyuu Symphony (Nobita's Earth Symphony), has managed to attract over 3.18 million viewers to theaters in the 52 days since its release. Surpassing the 4 billion yen (approximately 26 million dollars) revenue mark in total, the film offered a wonderful surprise to its fans to celebrate this great success. The producers shared a special collage video featuring the opening scenes of all 44 films released since the beginning of the series.
Created by Fujiko F. Fujio, Doraemon has been one of the most unshakable pillars of Japanese pop culture since 1969. Its first feature film began in 1980 with Nobita no Kyoryu (Nobita's Dinosaur). Since that day, with the exception of the pandemic period, it has become a Japanese tradition for a new film to be released every March. This latest box office success proves once again how vibrant the series' multi-generational popularity and its impact on families remain.
The released special video not only commemorates the past but also hints at the future of the series. Preparations are in full swing for the 45th film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari (Nobita's Art World Story), which is scheduled for release in 2025. The new film, which will meet audiences on March 7, 2025, will focus on the adventures of Nobita, Doraemon, and their friends in a mysterious European town after being pulled into a painting. The director's chair for the series will be occupied by Yukiyo Teramoto, who has previously worked on many Doraemon projects.
For the anime industry, Doraemon films are one of the most important locomotives that keep the habit of children and families going to the cinema alive. While the 4 billion yen revenue places the film among the most successful anime productions of 2024, it also carries the series' total box office legacy to massive dimensions. The 44-film opening video released for fans both provides nostalgia and showcases the development of animation technology over the years. With the 45th film to be released next year, this massive legacy is expected to grow even further and break new records.
