Witch on the Holy Night Film Announces Double Visual; Will Release Same Day as Smartphone Game
An exciting announcement has arrived for Type-Moon's beloved work Witch on the Holy Night (Mahōtsukai no Yoru). The anime film has revealed a special “Double Visual” image for its promotional art. It was also announced that the game's smartphone version will be released on the same day as the film. Accordingly, both the film and the mobile game will meet audiences and players on November 20.
As known, Witch on the Holy Night is a visual novel adaptation originally released for PC in 2012, written by Kinoko Nasu and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi. The story is set in 1989 and follows Shizuki Soujuurou, who comes from the countryside to the city, as his path crosses with Aoko Aozaki, the heir to a mage family, and the witch Alice Kuonji, who lives in a magical mansion. This work shares the same “Nasuverse” universe as works like Fate/stay night and Tsukihime; Aoko Aozaki is a character well known especially to fans of Melty Blood.
The film's animation studio ufotable has previously made a name for itself with the Demon Slayer and Fate/stay night series. Therefore, the cinematic adaptation of Witch on the Holy Night is creating great expectations in terms of visual quality. Bringing the Type-Moon universe to the big screen with a major production has long been a project fans have requested.
The game's smartphone version, on the other hand, will target not only PC or console players but also the mobile audience. The game had previously come to platforms such as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch; the mobile version expands this access circle.
