Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Released New Character Visuals

The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime has unveiled new character visuals for the highly anticipated adaptation. According to Anime Corner, the visuals feature warriors familiar from the game's legendary mode. Although an official release date has not yet been announced, these visuals give fans important clues about the visual tone of the adaptation.
The anime, a co-production between Sony and Crunchyroll, is being directed by Takanobu Mizuno (Garo: Vanishing Line) and produced by studio Kamikaze Douga (Batman Ninja, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OPs). The project was first announced in January 2024 and is planned as an anthology series inspired by the game's multiplayer Legends mode. Each episode is expected to focus on a different character and story, bringing the mystical atmosphere of feudal Japan to the anime format.
In the new character visuals, designs for the game's four main classes—Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin—stand out. Particularly, the Assassin's red mask and the Hunter's bow maintain the iconic silhouettes from the original game while adopting an anime-specific style. Kamikaze Douga's signature sharp lines and dynamic poses are clearly felt in these visuals. The studio had previously proven its success with projects like Ninja Kamui and Star Wars: Visions.
The significance of this adaptation lies in the fact that Ghost of Tsushima is not just a game, but also a reflection of respect for Japanese culture and cinema. The game is also known for its black-and-white mode inspired by Kurosawa films. Now, bringing that same spirit to anime is a source of great excitement for both game fans and anime enthusiasts. Although the release date is not yet known, it is rumored that Sony and Crunchyroll are planning a launch for the summer of 2025. We are likely to see a trailer and more character reveals in the coming months.
