JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run 2nd Stage Release Date and Weekly Broadcast News Announced

Netflix has delivered the long-awaited news for Steel Ball Run (Part 7), the seventh installment of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series, which has millions of fans worldwide. According to the official announcement, the "2nd STAGE" episodes of the series will meet viewers in the Fall 2026 season. The detail that excites fans the most is Netflix's confirmation that, instead of the controversial "batch" release format, they will release episodes one by one every week.
This decision was made following intense fan backlash after the first stage, which aired on March 19, 2026, and consisted of only a single 47-minute episode. The batch release strategy used during the previous season, Stone Ocean, had led to the birth of the term "Netflix Jail" due to claims that it reduced the series' social media engagement. In the new announcement, the Netflix Anime team emphasized that this weekly broadcast format "reflects the wishes of the production committee" and was part of the original plan.
Adapted from Hirohiko Araki's legendary manga series, Steel Ball Run follows a massive horse race set in 1890s America. In this race stretching from San Diego to New York, Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, and Gyro Zeppeli, a master of the mysterious "Spin" technique, take the lead roles. The series, set in a universe completely independent of the original JoJo timeline, offers a fresh start for old fans and serves as a great entry point for new viewers.
As with previous parts of the series, David Production sits in the production chair for the anime. The directing team includes Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi, who achieved great success with Golden Wind (Part 5), while script supervision is entrusted to veteran writer Yasuko Kobayashi. In the voice cast, Shōgo Sakata brings the character of Johnny Joestar to life, while Yōhei Azakami voices Gyro Zeppeli. With the second stage beginning in the Fall of 2026, the struggles around the "Devil's Palm," one of the most dangerous regions of the race, are expected to be brought to the screen.
