KAMUI: He's Behind You Anime Starts Streaming on OceanVeil on July 3

One of the most anticipated anime adaptations of this summer, KAMUI: He's Behind You, has received its official release date. The series, based on the manga of the same name by writer Eroki and illustrator Shinko Konoshiro, will be presented to viewers worldwide on July 3 via OceanVeil. On the same day, it will also air its first episode on television channels in Japan, looking to both amuse and frighten fans of the genre.
The manga first garnered significant attention on social media when it began publication in 2021. As the title suggests, the story revolves around a presence that is 'behind you' — whether it is exactly a ghost, a charm, or a cursed toy is not yet clear. Eroki's dark humor and Konoshiro's detailed, unsettling yet equally comical illustrations quickly turned the series into a cult classic. The manga has reached 8 volumes in Japan to date and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
The announcement of the anime adaptation was made last year, with the studio and staff kept secret for a long time. According to information revealed so far, the series is directed by Mitsuo Iso (The Sky Crawlers, Dennō Coil). The script team includes experienced writer Ryōta Yamaguchi, previously known for Another and Higurashi. The combination of these two names has led fans to comment that it will perfectly balance tension and comedy. The music will be composed by Yuki Kajiura — another indication of how carefully the series' atmosphere is being crafted.
The OceanVeil platform stands out as a digital streaming service that has recently accelerated its anime licensing. KAMUI: He's Behind You will be the platform's first major anime launch in many regions, including Turkey. Episodes are planned to be released weekly, and the series is stated to consist of 12 episodes. It has been announced that subtitles, as well as English and Japanese dubs, will be added in the following weeks.
Following this news, manga fans are now eagerly awaiting the official trailer and character introductions. In particular, which seiyū has been chosen to voice the series' main character, Mizuki, has not yet been announced. A new trailer or visual is expected to be shared before July 3. In short, for those who love horror and comedy combined, one of this summer's must-see productions is upon us.
