Kill Blue Anime Gets Second Season Approval

The second season of the Kill Blue anime has been officially announced. The news came immediately after the broadcast of the 12th and final episode of the first season on Saturday, June 27, 2026. A brief statement from the production studio and the broadcasting platform stated that the series will continue, but the release date or cast details for the second season have not yet been shared.
Kill Blue is based on the manga of the same name by Tadatoshi Fujimaki (creator of Kuroko's Basketball). The manga first started in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 2022 and quickly gained popularity. The story revolves around Jin, a young assassin, joining a high school basketball team to start a new life. Blending action, comedy, and sports elements, the series stands out with Fujimaki's unique drawing style and dynamic storytelling.
The first season started in April 2026 and aired weekly for 12 episodes. Thanks to the animation quality and the connections established with Fujimaki's previously created Kuroko's Basketball (such as similarities in character designs and fluidity in basketball scenes), it received positive reactions from both old fans and new viewers. The first season also managed to offer emotional depth, especially in moments where Jin confronts his past and bonds with his teammates.
The announcement of the second season means that there are still many popular story arcs in the manga that have not yet been adapted into anime. Fujimaki's manga has currently exceeded 20 volumes and continues to be published regularly. Fans can expect new episodes in which Jin will face greater threats related to his former assassin identity and follow his rise in basketball tournaments. Which studio will produce the second season and its release schedule are likely to be clarified in the coming months.
