My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked Anime Starts on July 8: New Trailer and Cast Announced

The release date for the My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked anime has been set. The production will air on Japanese TV and select platforms worldwide on July 8, 2026. The anime announced additional voice cast and theme songs alongside a new trailer released this week.
The opening theme will be performed by Lia. Lia is known for her memorable performances in works such as Clannad and Angel Beats!. The ending theme will be by AVAM. The trailer features warm moments between the series' main character Mizuchi and her stepfamily, accompanied by the energetic melodies of these two artists.
In addition to the previously announced main cast, new voice actors have been revealed. The performer for Mizuchi had been announced earlier; now it has been stated that stepmother Yukari will be played by Miyuki Sawashiro, and stepsister Koharu by Aoi Yūki. Both actors are well-known names in the anime world for their roles in major works such as Demon Slayer and Fate.
The series is an adaptation of a popular light novel and manga originally created by author Mikazuki Kiba and illustrator Natsuki Hanae. The story turns the classic 'evil stepmother' trope on its head: Mizuchi discovers that her father's new wife and step-siblings are not actually as wicked as she thought. This warm and humorous family drama garnered great interest among both Japanese and Western readers. The anime adaptation aims to bring this success to the screen.
The production studio is Studio Blanc (previous works: My Tiny Senpai, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible). The director is Mirai Minato. The series is planned for a total of 12 episodes. The trailer shows that in addition to visual quality, the emotional bond between characters is also emphasized.
For anime fans, this adaptation is significant as it brings a new breath to the 'evil stepfamily' cliché. It offers a structure similar to the 'unexpected hero' trend that has risen in recent years with works such as The Rising of the Shield Hero and My Next Life as a Villainess. My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked may also be released on platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix starting July 8 (official licensing announcement not yet made). New episode trailers and cast interviews are expected in the following weeks.
