"Tonight, I Have a Date with a Serial Killer" Live-Action Series Adds New Police Cast

The live-action series based on the popular manga "Tonight, I Have a Date with a Serial Killer" has added four new cast members. Hirona Yamazaki, Sō Okuno, Reia Yonekura, and Masahiro Toda will appear as police officers in the series. The series will begin airing on Japanese television on July 1.
It was previously announced that Fumiya Takahashi and Moka Kamishiraishi would play the lead roles. Takahashi plays a serial killer hunting detective, while Kamishiraishi plays a mysterious woman. The newly added actors will form the police team that assists them. How these characters will add dynamics to the story is eagerly awaited.
The manga on which the series is based, "Tonight, I Have a Date with a Serial Killer" (Japanese: Konya wa Koroshiya to Dēto Shitai), was first published in 2022 and quickly gained a large fan base. Its original story combining thriller and romance manages to both scare and move readers. The live-action adaptation is said to stay faithful to the manga and bring the same atmosphere to the screen.
The series is directed by Kentarō Moriya, with the script written by Yūko Nagaike. The production company Kadokawa has previously produced many successful manga adaptations. Fans hope that this new adaptation will appeal to both old readers and TV viewers.
As the premiere date approaches, promotional materials and trailers are expected to be released in the coming days. The series will premiere with its first episode on July 1 and will continue with new episodes every Wednesday. It is not yet clear whether viewers outside Japan will be able to watch the series on international platforms.
