Netflix's Live-Action One Piece Series Renewed for Season 3: The Battle of Alabasta Begins in 2027!

Hello Straw Hat fans, buckle up because our route has turned toward a massive desert! Netflix has officially renewed its hit live-action One Piece adaptation for a 3rd season. Announced under the title "ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta," the new season will premiere worldwide simultaneously in 2027. The short teaser video shared alongside the announcement already transports fans into the middle of sandstorms in the Alabasta Kingdom.
This exciting news comes right after the 2nd season, which was released on March 10, 2026, and topped global charts. As you may recall, the 2nd season covered key locations such as Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, and Drum Island, leaving the story right on the brink of Alabasta. The producers stated that due to the massive scale of the Alabasta arc and its heavy visual effects requirements, they decided to dedicate the entire 3rd season to this story. This means that Luffy and his crew's desert adventures will be presented with a much more epic production.
The names joining the cast in the new season are also raising expectations to the peak. It has been confirmed that we will see Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace and Cole Escola as Bon Clay. Additionally, Sir Crocodile (Joe Manganiello) and Nico Robin (Lera Abova), whom we saw briefly in the 2nd season, will be at the center of the story in the 3rd season. The series' original creator Eiichiro Oda continues to sit in the executive producer's chair as always, personally overseeing every detail. Oda-sensei's close supervision is seen as the biggest factor in the series maintaining its loyalty to the source material.
Showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes stated, "The Alabasta saga is one of the most beloved stories in all of One Piece. It is a great honor for us to bring this battle to the screen." Filming continues in Cape Town, South Africa, and the series is not limited to live-action alone. Netflix will also continue to expand the universe with a LEGO One Piece special in September 2026 and the "THE ONE PIECE" anime remake produced by WIT Studio. It seems the next few years will be entirely the year of the Straw Hats!
