Surprise in the Osomatsu-san Live-Action Film: Anime Voice Actor Joins the Cast!

Exciting news for Osomatsu-san fans! The series' highly anticipated new live-action film, Osomatsu-san: Jinrui Kuzuka Keikaku!!!!!? (Osomatsu-san: The Plan to Trash Humanity!!!!!?), is preparing to welcome a familiar name from the anime world. Famous voice actor Nanami Yamashita, who voices the popular idol Hashimoto Nya in the anime series, will step in front of the camera this time to appear as a Karamatsu Girl. This move creates a wonderful bridge between the original voice cast and the live-action production.
Scheduled for release in Japan on March 28, 2025, the film brings the chaotic and absurd world of the sextuplets to the big screen once again. The Karamatsu Girl character to be played by Nanami Yamashita represents the passionate and loyal fan base of Karamatsu, the most narcissistic and 'cool' brother in the series. While Yamashita voiced an idol that Choromatsu was a fan of in the anime version, her taking on the role of a fan herself in this film has already been met with amusement as a fun irony among fans.
Osomatsu-san is essentially a modern sequel to legendary manga artist Fujio Akatsuka's 1960s Osomatsu-kun series. The anime series, which began in 2015, reached a massive global fan base by telling the absurd adventures of the adult but unemployed (NEET) sextuplets. The series was previously the subject of a live-action film in 2022 starring the group Snow Man, which achieved great success at the box office. The new film aims to continue this legacy with a different cast and an even crazier story.
Casting choices like this 'crossover' are strategically important for keeping anime fans' interest in live-action adaptations alive. Nanami Yamashita's involvement in the project demonstrates the film's respect for the original material and its commitment to fan culture. This new adventure, in which we will watch the sextuplets' 'trash' lives and their efforts to adapt (or fail to adapt) to society, will meet moviegoers in March. Let's see what kind of color Karamatsu's new fan will add to the chaos in the film!
