Sony Pictures Greenlights Bloodborne Animated Film: Jacksepticeye in the Producer's Chair!

The years of waiting are finally coming to an end, but it's not a game sequel we were expecting, but a massive cinematic project! At the CinemaCon 2026 event held in Las Vegas, Sony Pictures officially announced that they are working on an animated film adaptation of FromSoftware's cult action RPG Bloodborne. One of the most striking details of the project is that one of the most recognizable faces in the gaming world, YouTuber Jacksepticeye (Seán McLoughlin), will be in the producer's chair. This move is seen as the latest and most exciting step in Sony's strategy to bring its powerful gaming brands to cinema and television.
Released in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne was developed by the FromSoftware team led by legendary director Hidetaka Miyazaki. The city of Yharnam, which blends Victorian architecture with Lovecraftian horror elements, drew players into a dark and relentless hunt. Since its release, the game has received full marks from critics and has gained over 9.3 million loyal fans worldwide as of 2026. Now, it is a matter of great curiosity how this dark atmosphere will turn into a visual feast with the limitless possibilities of animation.
Jacksepticeye, who has joined the production team, is a name known for his passion for Bloodborne. Expressing his love for the game on his channel for years, McLoughlin said in a statement: "I will do everything in my power to make this the best Bloodborne adaptation. I am taking on this responsibility not only because it is my favorite game, but also because I know how passionately the fans are attached to this universe." The animation side of the project will be handled by Lyrical Animation, founded by names who have previously signed successful works such as Castlevania. Reports also indicate that the film will be R-rated (for adults) and will remain faithful to the game's famous brutal, bloody, and uncanny tone.
For now, no detailed information has been shared about the film's release date or voice cast. However, the collaboration between Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions proves that the Bloodborne universe will not be limited to games. While fans are still waiting for a PC port or a 60 FPS patch, this animated film will offer a great opportunity to return to the mysterious streets of Yharnam. Considering the momentum Sony has gained with projects like The Last of Us and Helldivers, the Bloodborne animation is expected to raise the bar quite high.
