The Moon on a Rainy Night Anime Adaptation to Premiere in 2027

REMOW announced at its panel at Anime NYC that a television anime adaptation of the manga The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki) will premiere in 2027. The company gave fans the good news during the panel, stating that the project is 'coming.' However, no official information has been shared so far regarding the anime's studio, staff, or streaming platform.
Kuzushiro's manga of the same name has been serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine since 2021. The story begins when hearing-impaired high school student Kanon meets her classmate Saki on a rainy night. The manga stands out for its sensitive handling of themes of hearing impairment and sign language, as well as its natural portrayal of the warm relationship between the two girls. The series, also published in English by Kodansha USA, has won the hearts of international readers.
The series solidified its place in the industry by being named 'Best Manga' at the Harvey Awards in 2023. This achievement also heightens anticipation for the anime adaptation. Especially considering that hearing-impaired characters are underrepresented in mainstream anime, the adaptation of The Moon on a Rainy Night could be an important step in this area.
The announcement made at REMOW's panel at Anime NYC was one of the major news items at the convention, one of the biggest anime events held in New York. Given that the company produces projects aimed at the global market, the anime adaptation is expected to reach international audiences as well. While it has been stated that production is ongoing with a 2027 target, official announcements regarding the studio and staff are expected in the coming months.
