Date Set for First Look at The ONE PIECE Remake: June 23rd at Annecy!

We are reaching the most exciting stage of the wait for One Piece fans! The The ONE PIECE anime remake, prepared in collaboration with Netflix and WIT Studio to handle the series from the very beginning with a modern touch, will appear before audiences for the first time on June 23, 2026. During a special panel to be held as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of the world's most prestigious animation events, the first footage and concept designs from the highly anticipated project will be shared. This presentation will be the most comprehensive look offered to fans ahead of the series' grand premiere in 2027.
The names behind the project double the excitement. Director Masashi Koizuka, known for his success in the first seasons of Attack on Titan, and character designer Kyoji Asano are at the helm of this new adventure. WIT Studio aims to bring the original series' old episodes in 4:3 format to today's 16:9 standards and modern animation technologies. It is stated that the first season will consist of a total of 7 episodes, with each episode lasting approximately 42 minutes. This "prestige-style" format will offer a total of 300 minutes of experience, telling the first 50 episodes of the East Blue Saga at a much more fluid pace.
So, why is this remake so important? Eiichiro Oda's legendary work One Piece has been broadcast uninterrupted by Toei Animation since 1999 and has exceeded 1100 episodes. However, for new viewers, this massive number of episodes and the slow pace of the older episodes can sometimes be discouraging.
