3rd American Manga Awards Nominees Announced: Billy Bat and Love Bullet Stand Out

3rd American Manga Awards (American Manga Awards) announced the official list of nominees. According to a special report by Anime News Network, five different manga works were nominated for this year's awards: Billy Bat, Bug Ego, The Credits Roll Into the Sea, The Horrors of Noroi Michiru, and Love Bullet. The awards aim to honor manga works published in the United States.
Now in its third year, the awards are gaining increasing attention from industry professionals and fans. The first edition took place in 2024, with popular series like Chainsaw Man winning awards. The second ceremony in 2025 demonstrated diversity by featuring giants such as Spy × Family and Jujutsu Kaisen alongside independent works. This year's list particularly highlights Billy Bat by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki, known for its art that combines mystery and historical fiction.
The other works on the nominees list are also highly ambitious. Love Bullet stands out for its unique narrative blending romance and action, while Bug Ego and The Credits Roll Into the Sea are known as more experimental, independent works. The Horrors of Noroi Michiru is considered a masterpiece in the horror genre. Jury members stated that this year's nominees "push the boundaries of manga art."
The awards ceremony is planned to be held in New York this fall. The winners will be determined by a jury consisting of leading publishers and critics in the industry. Additionally, a "People's Choice" award, determined by fan voting, will also be presented. This year's nominees show how strong both mainstream and independent voices are in the manga world. The announcement of the winners, eagerly awaited by all manga fans, will also be an important indicator for the future of the industry.
