A New Spin-off in the Baki Universe: "Baki Gaiden: Shin Chiharu" Begins

Baki universe expands with a spin-off that will excite fighting enthusiasts again. In the August issue of Monthly Champion RED magazine, published on June 19, a new side series called "Baki Gaiden: Shin Chiharu" officially began. The main character of the series is the wild fighter Chiharu Shiba, whom we know from the original Baki series.
This new series is being prepared under the original concept and supervision of Keisuke Itagaki, the creator of the Baki series. The illustrations are handled by Tomokazu Omatsu. Omatsu has previously worked on spin-offs such as "Baki Gaiden: Kizuki", a name that adds depth to the series' side characters. This time, our focus will be on Chiharu Shiba's past, training, and perhaps secrets we never knew.
The Baki series is a manga that has been ongoing since 1991 and is groundbreaking in the martial arts genre. Known for Keisuke Itagaki's detailed anatomical drawings and exaggerated yet realistic fight choreography, the series has hosted many side stories and spin-offs. Chiharu Shiba, on the other hand, is a character who first appeared in the "Baki the Grappler" series, winning fans' affection with his unique fighting style and chaotic personality. A spin-off centered on him has been a long-awaited development.
In the same issue of the magazine, a new one-shot story was announced for "Meitantei Marnie" (Detective Marnie). This detective manga also represents a different genre published within Monthly Champion RED. However, the real bombshell for Baki fans was undoubtedly "Shin Chiharu".
The first chapter of the series has already been published; it is expected to continue regularly in the coming months. If you love the chaotic fights and character depth of the Baki universe, don't miss Chiharu Shiba's story.
