The series is set 30 years after Japan was invaded by the Gods (Idolatry Prohibited Organisms - IPO). In this world where major cities like Tokyo have become uninhabitable "Danger Zones," our protagonist Waka Kamikura seeks revenge against these beings, whom she holds responsible for the death of her closest friend. When her path crosses with Sachiyuki Tokinaga, a researcher at the Anti-God Scientific Research Institute, it is revealed that Waka actually possesses mysterious powers and "god eyes" that could change the world.

After God was first published on August 10, 2021, on Shogakukan's MangaONE and Ura Sunday platforms. Since then, it has gained a large fanbase with its unique art style, eerie atmosphere, and combination of mythological elements with a modern dystopia. The series solidified its place in the industry by being nominated for the Next Manga Awards in 2023. Compiled into 10 volumes in Japan so far, the manga has reached a wide readership worldwide through platforms such as Comikey and Viz Media.
