New Series from Akari Kajimoto: Sanagi no Shinzou Begins on Shonen Jump+!

Manga artist Akari Kajimoto, who gained a large fanbase with the popular supernatural romance series Kuchi ga Saketemo Kimi ni wa (Even If You Slit My Mouth), is back with a brand new story. Starting April 17th on Shueisha's digital platform Shonen Jump+, Sanagi no Shinzou (Heart of the Chrysalis) promises a dark yet heartfelt love story that reflects the author's characteristic style.
The new series follows the extraordinary relationship between a mysterious young man who is the successor to the Demon King and an ordinary human girl. Sanagi no Shinzou is described in official promotions as a "one-sided, loyal, and twisted love story." As in her previous works, Akari Kajimoto continues to explore the emotional bonds between non-human entities and humans with her unique aesthetic drawing style. The series, which received great interest from readers with its first chapter, has become one of the most anticipated new series on the platform.
Manga artist Akari Kajimoto is best known for the 8-volume series Kuchi ga Saketemo Kimi ni wa, which ran from 2020 to 2023. By transforming the Japanese urban legend Kuchisake-onna (Slit-Mouthed Woman) into a modern romantic comedy, the artist proved her success in integrating supernatural elements into daily life. With her new series Sanagi no Shinzou, she aims to carry this success to a darker and more dramatic ground.
The Shonen Jump+ platform has reached a central position in the manga world in recent years by hosting massive hits like Spy x Family and Kaiju No. 8. The fact that a proven name like Kajimoto is starting her new series on this platform also increases the potential for the series to receive an anime adaptation in the future. Whether the series will be published in English for international readers via MANGA Plus is another topic eagerly awaited by fans.
