New Manga from Chronicles of the Going Home Club Creator Kuroha: SATANICA Launches

Mangaka Kuroha, who is remembered for the beloved comedy series Chronicles of the Going Home Club (Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku), has returned with a new project that has fans excited. SATANICA, which had its first chapters released on May 9th on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform, once again draws readers into a world of absurd humor and school life. The series has also been made available to global readers simultaneously with Japan via MANGA Plus.
SATANICA follows events taking place in a high school's occult research club. Machino and their friends, who are at the center of the story, are shaken by unexpected news while studying supernatural phenomena every day: the student council has decided to shut down their club. The team, embarking on a major struggle to save their club, manages this process at their own unique, very relaxed pace—eating snacks and having deep conversations on one hand, while trying to summon demons in their spare time on the other.
Mangaka Kuroha achieved great success with Chronicles of the Going Home Club, which was published on Square Enix's Gangan Online service between 2011 and 2014. This series was also adapted into a 12-episode anime series by Studio Nomad in 2013. Kuroha's sense of humor is generally based on classic Japanese comedy dynamics known as "boke and tsukkomi," where one character says something absurd and another corrects them. The artist's previous work, Datenshi-ron (Fallen Angel Theory), which ended in March 2024, similarly combined supernatural elements with daily life.
