Volume 1 of Dustland, the Official Sequel to Crows and Worst, Released: Celebration Messages from Famous Names

Dustland's first volume has officially hit the shelves! This new series written and drawn by Hiroshi Takahashi was eagerly awaited as the official sequel to the cornerstones of Japanese delinquent manga, Crows and Worst. Released in Japan on June 19, 2025, the first volume was published under the Akita Shoten label.

To celebrate the release, many famous names from beyond the manga world lined up. Actor Shun Oguri (known for his role as Genji Takiya in the Crows Zero films), rapper and Creepy Nuts member R-指定, actor Hitoshi Ozawa, musician/actor Nobuyuki Kaneko, comedian Kendo Kobayashi, YouTuber group Fischer's member Silk Road, comedian Hideaki Tsuchida, and actor Kyosuke Yabe shared their feelings. Particularly, Shun Oguri, who played a major role in popularizing the series through his performance in the Crows Zero films, makes this comment even more meaningful.

So what exactly is Dustland about? Takahashi's previous two major series dealt with the story of Suzuran Boys' High School and its delinquent students. Dustland focuses on a new generation within this universe. The first volume introduces a brand new hero who carries traces of past characters. The series began in Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2024 and is already receiving great interest from both old fans and new readers. Takahashi's distinctive rough drawing style and character-focused narrative are also evident in this new adventure.

This release is a turning point for Crows and Worst fans. Takahashi has been expanding this universe since 1990; Crows (1990-1998), Worst (2001-2013), and subsequent side stories have achieved millions in sales. With Dustland, a new page of the universe opens. Although no official anime or film adaptation has been announced yet, the support from so many famous names for the first volume shows the project's potential. In the coming months, a second volume and a possible translation announcement are expected. Considering the popularity of Crows and Worst in Turkey, it is likely that Dustland will be localized soon.
