Flower and Asura Manga Ends in August
Flower and Asura (Hana to Asura) manga will officially end in August 2025. The series, written by Ayano Takeda (Sound! Euphonium) and illustrated by Musshu, has been serialized in Ultra Jump magazine in Japan. The final chapter will be released in the magazine's September issue (which hits stands in August).
The manga is concluding its journey after approximately four years, having started in 2021. The story revolves around Mizuki Hana, a young girl who joins the high school drama club and discovers her inner creativity. Her passion for literature and her struggle to express herself under the stage lights formed the core of the series. Takeda's character-driven narrative, previously seen in Sound! Euphonium, was adapted here to the world of theater.
The news of the series' conclusion has divided Takeda's fans. While some are pleased that the story is ending as planned, others who hoped for a longer series are disappointed. Nevertheless, the author-illustrator duo stated that they had enough time to complete the story and that the ending would be satisfying.
Flower and Asura has garnered attention not only in Japan but also internationally. The English translation of the series is published by Seven Seas Entertainment, with 5 volumes released so far. Although the final volume has not yet been announced, the collected volume is expected to be on shelves toward the end of the year following the final chapter. If an anime adaptation were to follow, it could be Takeda's second major animation project after Sound! Euphonium.
Manga fans are eagerly awaiting the final chapter in August. It is likely that Takeda and Musshu will bid farewell to the series with autograph sessions and special interviews.
