Theater Adaptation of Fujiko F. Fujio's Manga 'Minotaur's Plate' Coming: Starring Seishiro Kato

Fujiko F. Fujio's little-known but impressive science fiction manga "Minotaur's Plate" (Minotaur no Sara) is being adapted for the stage. The play will be performed at New National Theatre Small Hall in Tokyo from December 10 to 28, 2026, followed by a single-day performance on January 10, 2027, at Overade Hall Middle Hall in Toyama.
The actor chosen for the lead role is the young and talented Seishiro Kato. Kato will portray the mysterious main character of the manga in this production. Additionally, the full cast of the play has been announced, but the names of the other actors have not yet been fully revealed. The production is based on Fujiko F. Fujio's short story of the same name published in the 1970s.
Although Fujiko F. Fujio is widely known for the Doraemon series, "Minotaur's Plate" is a work that reflects his darker and philosophical side. The manga deals with the ethical dilemmas of a human-animal hybrid creature created in a laboratory. This adaptation is a rare opportunity for fans of the manga, as the work has never been adapted into animation or live-action before.
No official announcement has been made yet regarding the director and screenwriter of the play. However, fans of Fujiko F. Fujio are eagerly awaiting this project. For theater lovers and manga enthusiasts, December will be an unmissable event. Ticket sales and additional details are expected to be announced in the coming months.
