Gabriel Dropout Manga Ends with Final Chapter
It's time for the final chapter of Gabriel Dropout. According to the announcement by Kadokawa's monthly magazine Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh, the next chapter of the series will be the final chapter of the story. Thus, Ukami's four-panel comedy series, which has been running for over ten years, is preparing to close its long publication marathon.
The series begins with Gabriel, one of heaven's most favored angels, being sent to the world for training. However, Gabriel becomes so absorbed in video games and laziness on Earth that instead of returning to heaven, she becomes a couch-potato "problem angel." The series' colorful cast, most notably her hardworking friend Vignette, the always-failing demon Satania, and Raphiel, known for her sadistic attitude, is one of the biggest cornerstones of this absurd comedy.
Gabriel Dropout's fan base gained great momentum with the 12-episode anime adaptation by Doga Kobo. Broadcast between January and March 2017, the anime quickly became part of internet culture, especially thanks to Satania's comedic outbursts and Gabriel's reluctant attitude. Many people who watched the anime later turned to the manga as well, which allowed the series to gain a lasting readership both in Japan and internationally.
After the final chapter takes its place in the magazine, it will be collected in the series' final volume, completing Gabriel Dropout's tankōbon journey.
