Gedo no Uta Manga Series in Short Series Format: "Re:venge Short" Now Streaming on DMM Short!

The Gedo no Uta (The Villain's Song) universe continues to expand with a new project that will excite its fans. Adapted from Daisuke Watanabe's highly acclaimed manga series, the short series titled Gedo no Uta Re:venge Short has met its audience on the DMM Short platform. Consisting of 23 episodes in total, this production is based on the striking stories found particularly in the 6th volume of the manga. The most notable feature of the series is that these short episodes serve as a "prequel," detailing events that take place before the main live-action series (Season 1).
Looking at the history of the series, we see that Gedo no Uta is actually a direct sequel to the author's previous work, Zenaku no Kuzu (The Scum of Good and Evil). The story centers on the duo Kamo and Tora, who appear to run an ordinary, old second-hand bookstore on the surface but secretly work as "revenge agents" against criminals who cannot be punished by the law. Known for its dark atmosphere, sense of justice that pushes ethical boundaries, and shocking crime files, the manga series has become one of the most successful examples of its genre, selling over 3 million copies in Japan.
This new short series move is seen as a strategic step by DMM TV to support its main live-action project. The first season of the main series, starring major names such as Yosuke Kubozuka (Kamo) and Kazuya Kamenashi (Tora), was released in December 2024 and made a significant impact. The momentum gained by the series extended to the premiere of the second season this past April 2026. Gedo no Uta Re:venge Short, with its fast-paced and striking episodes prepared in a vertical format, offers viewers a deeper look into the main story and the characters' pasts.
