Manga and Manhwa Storm the 2026 Harvey Awards: Chainsaw Man, One Piece, and Your Letter Nominated

The Harvey Awards, one of the most respected awards in the US comic book world, has announced its 2026 nominees. This year, many works from the manga and manhwa genres stand out on the list. Popular series such as Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, My Hero Academia, One Piece, and the South Korean production Your Letter will compete in the 'Best Manga' category.
The Harvey Awards are held annually as part of New York Comic Con and honor the best in comic book art. Other works nominated in 2026 include Naoki Urasawa’s Billy Bat, Land, Miss Ruki, My Gorilla Family, My Life in 24 Frames Per Second, and He Rolled Me Up Like a Grilled Squid. This diversity shows that Asian-origin comics have now secured a solid place in the mainstream American scene.
In particular, the nomination of the manhwa Your Letter is further proof of the rise of the Korean webtoon industry on the international stage. The series tells the story of a young girl's struggles in school life and the friendship she discovers through a mysterious letter. The emotional narrative of its author, Hyeon Sook (pen name), received full marks from critics.
These nominations are a great source of pride for both manga and manhwa fans. In previous years, productions such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Solo Leveling have won Harvey Awards; this year's list proves that Asian comics are no longer just a 'niche' but have become a global phenomenon. The winners of the awards will be announced at New York Comic Con (October 7-10, 2026). We are waiting with excitement!
