Hime to Konoehei: A Love Story Between a Loyal Guard and an Uncontrollable Princess Hits the Shelves

Written by Tenteko, one of the rising names in the manga world, Hime to Konoehei (The Princess and the Royal Guard), which has taken social media by storm, was officially published in Japan under the East Press label as of May 9, 2026. Born as a web series, this work tells the story of a sweet and equally contentious love between a loyal knight and a "naughty" princess who does not fit the traditional princess mold.
The story revolves around a gentlemanly guard, bound by unwavering loyalty to his kingdom and princess, and an energetic princess who has been in love with him since childhood. Handling classic themes like status and age differences with a modern sense of humor, the work tells the development of the duo from their childhood years to adulthood in an emotional language. The contrast between the Princess's energetic and uncontrollable nature and the Guard's composure forms one of the series' biggest attractions.
Author Tenteko is a name originally from the world of illustration, known for their character designs. Having taken their professional step into the manga world with Kyonshee ni Natta Kouhai, published in December 2025, the artist made their major breakthrough with Hime to Konoehei. Reaching a total of over 32 million views on social media platforms, this series was turned into a physical volume (tankobon) upon the intense demand of fans following its success on platforms like Matogross and Comic Polca.
This newly released volume does not just contain the chapters published digitally; it also includes over 40 pages of newly drawn manga and special illustrations. Additionally, for readers who prefer the digital version, a 12-page special bonus is available.
