Hypnosis and Death Game Unite: 'Shi no Anji' Manga Adaptation Begins
One of the dark faces of Japanese literature, Kuroda Kenji's novel 'Shi no Anji: Kyōsei Saimin Death Game' (Suggestion of Death: Forced Hypnosis Death Game) has stepped into the manga world with the pen of Furuike Penki. The series meets readers on Takeshobo's digital platform Takecomi as of June 25, 2024.
The plot of the novel is quite striking: a group of people are forced into a death game through hypnotic suggestions planted in their subconscious. The players do not know which actions are forbidden; as soon as they commit a forbidden act, they face instant death. This psychological thriller questions both the dark aspects of hypnosis and the limits of human nature.
Kuroda Kenji is not a writer known for editing cult works like 'Goth' and 'Another', but he is a name that has left a mark on Japanese literature with his original horror-thriller novels. Furuike Penki, on the other hand, has previously created hard-edged series like 'Kuro no Violence' and has a detailed, dark drawing style. The combination of this duo promises readers a visually intense atmosphere.
The death game genre has gained popularity in Japan with works like 'Battle Royale' and 'Kaiji'. However, 'Shi no Anji' adds a different layer of horror by incorporating hypnosis mechanics into this genre.
