New Yuri Novel from I'm in Love with the Villainess Author Inori: Coming in December

Inori., the author who achieved worldwide success with the I'm in Love with the Villainess (Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijō) series, is returning with a new project that will excite fans. Titled Poison for the Moon, Medicine for the Night—An Assassin Who Longs for Death and a Vampire Marked for Death (known in Japanese as Tsuki ni Doku, Yoru ni Kusuri), the new yuri novel will arrive on digital platforms in December 2026. The most notable aspect of this release is that it will have a global launch, being published simultaneously in Japanese, English, and German.
The story takes place in a dark fantasy universe where the world has been trapped in night for over a century. Niko, who leads a double life as a pharmacist by day and a professional assassin by night, rescues a silver-haired, ruby-eyed girl who falls from the sky one night. This girl is Lamica Alucard, a princess of the vampire lineage who carries the night itself within her. However, Niko's next mission is to assassinate the very vampire princess she saved. This tragic and sweet relationship between an "assassin who longs for death" and a "princess condemned to death" combines the emotional depth characteristic of the author with fantasy elements.
The details behind the project are also quite interesting for the industry. Popular artist Koh_rd is handling the novel's illustrations, while Tia provides the voice for the characters in the promotional videos. German publisher Dokico announced that this work is a first for them and that they are launching an original light novel series in collaboration with Inori.. Unlike works that are usually translated into Western languages months or even years after their Japanese release, the simultaneous multi-language release strategy of this novel proves once again the growing power of the yuri genre in the international market.
Author Inori., who began her career on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform in 2018, created one of the modern classics of the genre with I'm in Love with the Villainess. Reaching a wide audience with both its manga adaptation and the anime series released in 2023, the author is preparing to showcase her mastery in exploring social norms and minority themes in her new work as well. With this major release in December, fans are waiting to step into Inori.'s new, dark, yet equally romantic world.
