New Manga from Juntaro Aoki and LAB: “Vista da Gigantessa” Begins

Juntaro Aoki, known for his dark humor and survival-themed series “Nabe ni Tama wo Ukenagara” (While Receiving Bullets in the Pot), now appears before readers with a different genre. “Vista da Gigantessa” (ビスタ・ダ・ギガンテッサ), written by Aoki's original story and illustrated by mangaka LAB, published its first chapter in the electronic version of the 13th issue of Big Comic Superior magazine on June 12, 2025. The announcement was confirmed by Natalie, one of Japan's leading manga news sites.
The series' name is of Italian origin: “Vista da Gigantessa” roughly means “View of the Giant Woman.” This indicates that the story will be told from the perspective of a giant female character. LAB is previously known especially for works themed around “Kyojin” (giant); his giant woman illustrations shared on social media in the early 2020s garnered great attention. This new series offers an experiment combining LAB's passion for giant women with Aoki's unconventional character creations.
Big Comic Superior is a magazine owned by Japanese publisher Shogakukan and has hosted popular series such as “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” and “Giant Killing.” Aoki's previous series “Nabe ni Tama wo Ukenagara” was also published in the same magazine. An interesting coincidence: the new series starting in electronic version shows that digital publishing is gaining more weight in Japan. This series, not included in the print issue, can only be read in electronic format.
This collaboration is very exciting for fans: the compelling narrative Aoki used in his previous series, telling the survival struggle of an ordinary man, is now shifted to the perspective of a giant woman. LAB's detailed and impressive drawing style is perfect for conveying the scale of giant characters. Although only one chapter has been published so far, the series is expected to continue regularly. In the coming issues, we will all see how the story evolves and what the Aoki-LAB duo will create in this new world.
