A New Masterpiece from Kachiru Ishizue: "Phantom Ruth" Meets Readers with Its First Volume

If you were also a fan of the enchanting and dark atmosphere of the Rosen Blood series, buckle up! Renowned artist Kachiru Ishizue has returned with her new series, Phantom Ruth: The Last Paradise the Witch Dreamed Of (Phantom Ruth: Majo ga Yumemita Saigo no Rakuen). The highly anticipated first volume of the series was officially published by Akita Shoten on May 15, 2026. Serialized in Monthly Princess magazine, this new work once again showcases Ishizue's signature gothic and detailed art style.
At the center of the story is Rabishia, who runs an accessory shop called Mystica Obscura. While struggling with insomnia, Rabishia is also trying to navigate her complicated relationship with her childhood friend and talented perfumer, Anhel. When the bond between the two finally takes a romantic turn, Rabishia's life takes an unexpected direction. The young woman begins to see traces of a mysterious man who seduces her in her dreams and a forbidden scent. These dreams seem poised to cast a dark shadow over her real-life happiness.
Kachiru Ishizue gained great fame in the manga world, particularly with Rosen Blood, a dark fantasy with a vampire theme published between 2017 and 2022. This five-volume series carved out a unique place for itself in the josei genre with its aesthetic character designs and melancholic narrative. Continuing a similar aesthetic approach in her new series Phantom Ruth, the artist blends a supernatural mystery shaped by scents and dreams with romance. Fans of the artist are eager to see her famous "dreamlike" illustrations in this new work.
