Kagurabachi Manga Goes on Hiatus Until August

Kagurabachi fans won't be seeing new chapters for a while. The popular manga published in Shonen Jump has gone on hiatus until August due to its creator Takeru Hokazono's sudden illness. According to Anime News Network, the series had already taken a one-issue break in May due to the author's health issues, but now it has been halted for a longer period.
The official statement said that Hokazono is focusing on resting and fully recovering, with a return date set for August 2026. This is part of a recent trend seen in major series like One Piece and Hunter x Hunter, prioritizing the health of creators. Since its debut in 2023, Kagurabachi has quickly gained a large fanbase and is considered one of the freshest voices in the modern shonen genre.
The series, known for Hokazono's action-packed artwork and revenge-themed story, has garnered great interest in the West as well. The first volume was published in English in 2024, quickly earning full marks from both critics and readers. However, such sudden health issues once again highlight how grueling the intense weekly publication schedule can be for mangaka. Hokazono had previously mentioned the difficulties of producing the series weekly in various interviews.
It is not yet known whether there will be any developments regarding the Kagurabachi anime adaptation during the hiatus. However, Shonen Jump has previously supported its authors in similar situations, allowing creators with health issues to take a break until fully recovered. Fans hope the series will return stronger in August. In the meantime, reading the existing volumes or exploring Hokazono's previous short works might be a good idea.
A new official announcement from Shonen Jump is expected in the coming weeks. The return of Kagurabachi is a matter of great curiosity, both regarding what will happen in the second half of the story and the author's health condition. Remember, health comes first – we send our best wishes to Hokazono and say, see you in August.
