Kaidan Toshi Densetsu: New Occult Action Manga Begins Publication
Monthly Dragon Age, one of KADOKAWA's popular manga magazines, hosted an exciting debut in its June issue. Kaidan Toshi Densetsu ~Gendai Kaii no Shoujo-tachi~ (Urban Legend Ghost Stories ~Girls of Modern Anomalies~), a collaboration between writer Shirazaki Karu and artist Kokutou Nikke, officially began serialization as of May 9, 2026. Blending occult and action genres, this new series focuses on dark legends sprouting in the modern world.
The story takes place in the modern world and revolves around young girls who fight against supernatural anomalies called "Kaii." In this universe, where urban legends cease to be mere rumors and turn into physical threats, our characters will both try to survive and chase the truth behind these mysteries. While the first chapter welcomes readers with an atmospheric introduction, Kokutou Nikke's detailed art style already adds great depth to the action scenes.
The names behind the series are no strangers to the manga world. Artist Kokutou Nikke was previously known for their successful work on the Hazure Skill "Kage ga Usui" o Motsu Guild In, Jitsu wa Densetsu no Ansatsusha series. Writer Shirazaki Karu is known for the compelling worlds they create. The coming together of this duo has created great anticipation among fans of the genre. Especially considering that Monthly Dragon Age is home to popular series such as Highschool DxD and Trinity Seven, this new manga is also expected to become one of the magazine's hits.
