Kanade-kun no Shugorei Yarimasu! – New Manga Starting on July 15

The Japanese manga world is embracing a new original series. According to an announcement by Anime News Network, writer Ichiha Hiiragi and artist mimita will begin publishing their new manga “Kanade-kun no Shugorei Yarimasu!” on July 15. The announcement brings an intriguing concept: an ordinary high school student becomes the guardian spirit of the idol she is a fan of.
The story is summarized as follows: A female student somehow becomes a guardian spirit that appears around her favorite idol. Through this supernatural transformation, she must protect her idol from dangers while also continuing her own school life. The story is said to contain both comedic and romantic elements, with references to idol culture being one of the most notable aspects.
Ichiha Hiiragi has previously worked as a screenwriter on series such as “Kami no Kiba” and “Majo no Kaigoshoku”, known for combining thriller and fantasy elements. mimita is an artist known for his sweet drawing style and success in character expressions, especially noted for his short series “Kimi no Koe”. The partnership of this duo brings together talents from different genres; the meeting of a thriller-inspired writer with an emotional and cute artist could make the series both action-packed and emotionally rich.
The new manga arrives in a period when idol-focused stories remain popular. Following masterpieces like “Oshi no Ko” and “Idolish7”, this work that examines the bond between fans and idols through a supernatural lens could bring fresh air to the genre. Furthermore, it has not yet been announced whether the series will be published by a major publisher like Shueisha or on an independent platform; however, all details will become clear with the launch in mid-July. If the manga garners the expected interest, it is likely to quickly find its place both in Japan and on international platforms. Fans can already mark their calendars not to miss the first chapter on July 15.
