The First Original Manga from Keiichi Sigsawa: Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio

Legendary author Keiichi Sigsawa is writing a manga script directly for the first time in his career. Sigsawa, the creator of beloved series such as Kino's Journey and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, is preparing to meet readers with his new manga titled Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio. The manga will be illustrated by experienced artist Hayato Asaki.
According to the official announcement, Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio will begin its publication run in Japan on July 17, 2026. All of Sigsawa's works to date have been either novels or anime scripts. This project marks a major milestone as it is his first original manga script. While details regarding the artist Asaki's previous projects have not yet been elaborated upon, Sigsawa's choice has sparked curiosity among fans.
Keiichi Sigsawa became a globally recognized name with Kino's Journey. The philosophical depth and minimalist narrative of the series set him apart from other light novel authors. He subsequently gained the appreciation of a wide audience with Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. Following such a successful career, Sigsawa's venture into the manga format has created great excitement in the industry.
Although the genre of Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio has not yet been fully disclosed, the word “Peregrinatio” in its title means “journey, travel” in Latin. This strengthens the possibility that Sigsawa may once again explore a travel theme, much like he did in Kino's Journey. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the author will adapt his unique narrative style to manga panels.
More information regarding the series' genre, publication platform, and initial visuals is expected to be shared in the coming days. If you enjoy Sigsawa's previous works, it would be beneficial to add Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio to your watchlist. This is both a new chapter in the author's career and an exciting step for the world of manga.
