Kemono Jihen Manga to End with Volume 26
Kemono Jihen is ending with its 26th volume. According to Anime News Network, the manga written and illustrated by Shō Aimoto will complete its journey in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, where it began in December 2016, after 10 years. The release date of the final volume has not yet been announced; however, it has been confirmed that the series will consist of 26 tankōbon volumes in total.
The story follows the intersecting paths of detective Inugami, who investigates supernatural events, and half-human, half-monster Kabane. Kabane, ostracized in his village, solves mysterious cases involving creatures called “kemono” alongside Akira and Shiki, while also confronting the truth about his own lineage. With its dark atmosphere and character-driven narrative, the series has gained a loyal fanbase among supernatural manga in the shōnen genre.
This 10-year story did not remain only on manga shelves. Kemono Jihen was adapted into a 12-episode anime series by Ajia-Do Animation Works in 2021. This adaptation not only introduced the series to a wider audience but also increased interest in the manga. However, no official announcement has been made so far regarding a second season after the first.
Published under Shueisha and with its English edition handled by Seven Seas Entertainment, Kemono Jihen has managed to reach international readers as well. Volume 26 will be the conclusion of a long adventure for those who have been following the exploits of Kabane and his team since 2016. How the finale will be crafted and whether there will be a new development on the anime side will find answers in the coming months.
