Kingdom 5: First Trailer for the Live-Action Film Released: The Historic War is Approaching!

The first full trailer for the highly anticipated fifth installment of the Kingdom live-action film series has finally been shared! Set to premiere in Japan on July 17, 2026, the film is preparing to bring the largest and most spectacular battle in the series' history to the big screen. With Shinsuke Sato, who played a major role in the series' success, once again in the director's chair, the released trailer has sparked great enthusiasm among fans. This new chapter centers on the struggle against a massive alliance that threatens the very existence of the Qin dynasty.
This new film covers the Coalition Army Arc, one of the most iconic and expansive chapters in the manga. As understood from the trailer, six rival states, united under the leadership of the military genius Riboku (Shun Oguri), are mobilizing with a massive army to wipe the Qin dynasty off the map. Shin, portrayed by lead actor Kento Yamazaki, will once again be on the front lines in this do-or-die battle that will determine the fate of Qin. Director Sato stated that the project was carried out in great secrecy and that the team came together with the same spirit as five years ago, pushing boundaries to film scenes that were once called "unvisualizable."
The Kingdom series has become a giant not only in cinema but also in the manga world. Started by Yasuhisa Hara in 2006 in Weekly Young Jump magazine, the series has become one of the best-selling manga in history, surpassing 120 million copies sold worldwide as of January 2026. The fourth film in the series, Kingdom: Return of the Great General, broke box office records in Japan in 2024, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations. Hara expressed his belief that this new film will surpass the previous four in terms of intensity, excitement, and emotion, raising fans' expectations to the highest level.
So, what should we expect from this film? Kingdom 5 will stand out not only with its massive battle scenes but also with the maturation processes of the Shin and Ei Sei (Ryo Yoshizawa) characters. The strategic moves of the Riboku character, played by Shun Oguri, add a deep element of intellectual warfare to the story. For followers of the series, this film will be the greatest test of Qin's dream of unification. If you love historical war epics and stories of heroic deeds, mark July 17 on your calendar now; because the war cries that will echo across the ancient lands of China will be in theaters very soon!
